Treating Meniscal Tear With SoftWave Therapy

The meniscus is a piece of cartilage between the shinbone and thigh bone that acts as a shock absorber. A tear in the meniscus can cause pain, swelling, stiffness, and decreased range of motion.

SoftWave Therapy for Meniscal Tears

Suffering from a meniscus tear can make everyday life a nightmare as you struggle to perform essential movements like walking, sitting, and standing. Sadly, meniscal tears are all too common, affecting nearly 60-70% of the population. Symptoms of a meniscal tear include:

  • Popping sensation in the knee
  • Stiffness
  • Swelling
  • Pain while moving your knee
  • Decreased movement in the knee
  • Locking of the knee
  • Feeling of the knee giving way

Common causes of meniscal tears include any activity that makes you twist or rotate your knee, degenerative changes in the knee due to aging, and natural wear and tear.

SoftWave providers can develop a plan for meniscal tears. With our $69 New Patient Special, you can try SoftWave today and learn if you’re a candidate for treatment.

Gary

"They drive me crazy with the tingling and now, I can sleep pretty much through the night without them bothering me."  Gary can finally rest well at night without his leg bothering him, thanks to SoftWave therapy.

Greg

"I was skeptical at first, then as I came back for the second treatment and the pain continued to subside, I was convinced."  "I play golf three or four times a week, and I constantly was wearing a brace. I very rarely wear a brace now and I have no pain when I'm swinging the club. These treatments have allowed me to enjoy something that I love and that's being outside and playing golf.” Greg tried Softwave for his knee pain. Now he’s back to doing what he loves without limits.

Tamara

“They feel a lot lighter, like smooth kind of. I always felt like stiff at a point. No pain, no stiff, wow.” Tamara has tried physical therapy, knee tape, and aspirin but nothing got her knees feeling better other than SoftWave therapy.

Shock Wave Therapy for Acute and Chronic Soft Tissue Wounds

This study investigated the feasibility and safety of using extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) for complicated, nonhealing, acute and chronic soft-tissue wounds. Two hundred and eight patients were enrolled, with treatment consisting of debridement, outpatient ESWT, and moist dressings. Of the 208 patients, 156 had 100% wound epithelialization during a mean follow-up period of 44 days, and there were no treatment-related toxicities, infections, or deterioration of any ESWT-treated wound. The study concluded that ESWT is a feasible and well-tolerated strategy for treating acute and chronic soft tissue wounds.

Single Shockwave Treatment Shows Promise in Relieving Muscle Soreness

This randomized controlled trial investigated the effects of a single administration of focused extracorporeal shock wave therapy on delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS) induced by eccentric exercise. While there were no statistically significant differences between the groups in pain intensity reduction, maximum isometric voluntary force, pressure pain threshold, and daily life impairment, there were clinically relevant effects observed. The study suggests that focused extracorporeal shock wave therapy could be a potential option for relieving pain and enhancing recovery from DOMS, particularly in the midterm (72 hours) and for athletes returning to play.

Non-Invasive Healing with Shockwave Therapy for Tissue and Bone Disorders

This study found that shockwave therapy promotes biological healing through mechanotransduction, activating growth factors, cytokines, and stem cells that promote tissue regeneration. This study also found that shockwave effectively treats non-union fractures, osteoarthritis, and avascular necrosis, improving pain and function with minimal side effects.
